New Years Resolutions!!!

Most of us, if not all, have made New Years Resolutions year after year and by the end of the year looked back and noticed we haven’t followed through with our resolutions. I realized, from my experience, that this is because we look at the year as a whole: as 365 days. We don’t break it down one day at a time. We all have our struggles in life but our worries of what is to come tomorrow and in our future hold us back. Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 6:34 that “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (NIV)

My best years as far as resolutions go were the years when I had none. I wanted the year to bring what God wants out of it. One new year, 2003/2004 I just wanted God to do whatever and that was a year that a miracle happened. In the church I attended at that time, 4 people were jobless and the pastor was aware of this so he called us to go to the front of the church where we stood in a circle with him, held hands and prayed. He called upon God to bless us with Jobs and within weeks, we all had jobs. Mine was Allergan. In January, it will be my 7th year working with them!! When God blesses, he doesn’t half bless: I know this from many personal cases. He blesses ABUNDANTLY!

So this year, if you make resolutions: fine. But break the year down to ONE DAY at a time, call on God to bless you daily. Stick to your goals. Don’t give up. Remember, God is there with you… “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Gen. 28:15 NIV and that “..with God all things are possible.” Mat.19:26 (NIV).

God bless you at the end of this year 2010 and may He continue blessing you in the new year, 2011.

Hi Moe! That’s so true. I especially like the part about the half blessings. I say that to people all the time! May God bless you and may He use this blog to bring encouragement to others.

    • Lidia, I actually remember that from you telling it to me. It got stuck on me as I learned that it is true! Like you said, God doesn’t dangle a blessing in front of us to play around with us. God bless you!

    Hello Moses ,

I gotta admit, I’m guilty! I’ve made many resolutions myself, and it seems that whenever I make them, I either stay the same, or do the exact opposite. lol so you’re totally right. Love you!

(Accidently wrote it in the wrong place XD)
